AHM Group - The Early Days

AHM Group used to brand as AHM Motor Sports was founded by Kenny Chua in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, as an idependent constructor of open two-wheel racing sport bike in the 1980’s. The passionate Kenny himself modified a YAMAHA SS to compete in illegal road racing at the young age of 17 and made quite a scene in Jinjang district. During 1989 he had officially foarmed a team which inspired him to pursue a career in the world of motorsports.

The Office Building

The ground floor of our office building showcases the AHM Group Team's racing display, which includes products and technologies for bikes, safety equipment, merchandise, and our race trophies. Adjacent to this area is the Racing Technology Research & Development space, where our race mechanics and production department research and assemble their racing bikes. Visitors can observe this process through a glass area.

Moving up to the first floor, you'll find the design office, racing parts to go, senior management, and CEO space. This floor is designed with a no-hierarchy business model, allowing all team members to collaborate - sparking creativity and performance.

On the second floor, we have sleeping pods for our engineers and riders to rest when working on new technologies. Our office building is situated in the heart of Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia's city center.

The Research and Development Lab

Our Research and Development lab is a highly specialized facility dedicated to scientific research and technological advancement. The lab is equipped with advanced equipment and tools that allow our scientists and researchers to conduct experiments, tests, and analyses on a variety of subjects, from chemical reactions to electronic circuits. The lab is typically divided into various sections, each dedicated to a specific area of research, such as materials science, biochemistry, electronics, or software engineering. Each section contains specialized equipment and tools that are necessary for conducting experiments and analyzing data.

The atmosphere in an R&D laboratory is often fast-paced and highly focused, with researchers and scientists working together to solve complex problems and develop new technologies. The lab is typically staffed by highly trained and specialized professionals, including scientists, engineers, technicians, and support staff. Safety is a top priority in an R&D laboratory, and strict protocols and procedures are in place to ensure the safety of everyone in the lab. This includes using personal protective equipment (PPE), properly handling hazardous materials, and following established safety guidelines and procedures.

Overall, an R&D laboratory is a critical component of scientific and technological advancement, providing a space for innovative thinking, experimentation, and discovery. Our R&D laboratory is located at 8trium office tower, a residential township in Selangor, Malaysia.

The Race Circuit

Our very own race circuit is a specially designed track used for various types of motorsports activities, such as training and development of riders as well as race competitions. These circuits are designed to challenge the skills and abilities of the riders and their vehicles, and provide a thrilling experience for spectators. The circuit consists of a series of straights, curves, and corners, each with its own unique characteristics and challenges. The track is designed to include banked turns, and chicanes, adding to the complexity and excitement of the race.

Spectators can watch the race from grandstands or other designated areas along the circuit. There are also safety barriers in place to protect both rivers and spectators from potential accidents. Before the race, the circuit undergoes a rigorous safety inspection to ensure that it meets all safety standards and regulations. The track surface is checked for cracks or other defects, and safety features such as barriers, catch fencing, and runoff areas are thoroughly inspected.

During race competitions, riders navigate the circuit at high speeds, maneuvering their motor vehicles through each turn and straight. The excitement and intensity of the race often leave spectators on the edge of their seats, cheering on their favorite drivers and teams. Overall, the race circuit is a complex and exciting environment that brings together skilled rivers, advanced vehicles, and passionate fans. It's a thrilling experience for all involved, and a true testament to the human drive for speed and competition.

Our race circuit is located at Kuala Selangor, a town in the north-west of Selangor, Malaysia.

Where stars are born

With a special sense for discovering young champions, Kenny Chua established a team that became known for discovering talented team manager, drivers, mechanics and giving them an opportunity to enter the world of two wheel motorsports.

Modified Motorcycles – The Illegal Racing Era: 1982 – 1988

1982 was a significant year for Kenny Chua. He was a racing buff when he was in his teens. After returning from school, he used to help his father in the motor shop and slowly learn on how motorcycle works and modification of the bike impacting bikeerformance. With curiosity in his bike modification he turned into a race enthusiams by involve in the illegal weekend road racing held in Jinjang. 1984 Kenny was bared from racing by his dad, but the racing passion doesnt stop him there, as he was building the motorcycle retail empire he had the idea and vision in promoting his business through motor sports.

The begining of AH HONG MOTOR SPORTS. 1989 – 1993

1989, “Now that I’m in charge of my business. I find it difficult to keep pace with my hobby. Instead, I get other people to race for me. By this way I can still keep in touch with racing,” with this statement together with a team of five riders, they hogged the limelight in the local racing circuits. They participated under team name – Ah Hong Yamaha Motor 3S Racing Team. Kenny is the team owner and also the main sponsor for the team. Striving to compete as professional race team Kenny start by equip the race team with 2 full time professional race mechanics, proper team liveries and also spare parts equipment needed for the race bike. Kenny invested more than RM300,000 a year to ensure smooth running of the racing team.

1992, With the new facility in place and the perseverance of Kenny, interest from Shell Malaysia was sparked. The global group of energy and petrochemical companies was keen to introduce their brand through motorsports by partnering with Ah Hong Yamaha Motor 3S Racing.

Malaysian Cubprix Championship: 1994 – Current

1994, “I never thought of the danger involved, there was no safety measures in illegal races. You just go as fast as you can and if you get hit or crashed into something, then it’s just too bad,” said Kenny. Cubprix came at the right year and as an established racing team, Kenny had move into joining CubPrix to promote motor sports and also educating young racers to race in a more safety and suitable environment. The team participate in both category available in the event (Expert & Novice) to show support to the organizer and also promoting motor sports itself.

1997, would mark the next milestone as Castrol Malaysia a British oil company that markets industrial and automotive lubricants decided to partner with the team to brand its presence in the Malaysia market through motorsports channel.

2001, is a remarkable year to the team as the Title & Pricipal parnters had changed to MOS Lubricant a local Malaysian brand lubricant company had successfully introduce its brand to the market and capture market shares of wellknown companies in the engine lubricant sector by engaging its branding channel through AHM Motor Sports.

2006, plays an important year to the team as national brand lubricant PETRONAS a global Malaysian energy group with presence in over 100 countries had been part of the team. Having the vision by transforming into an international race team, the team had change its name to AHM Motor Sports and move forward together with Petronas to build an international standard team by pursuing the footstep of motoGP.

2010 will be the next milestone for the team as AHM Motor Sports had proven fruitful outcome in working together with PETRONAS by showing results both CP130 (expert category) & being the overall champion for CP115 (novice category). With the collabaration together with PETRONAS, the team had started Young Rider Program with Petronas to motivate the younger generation of riders that there is a future and hope in becoming world international riders with the right team.

2015, AHM Motor Sports had trained and created a legendary rider “Due to my poor performance and also being one of the oldest rider in the cubrpix, I had been rejected by all of the team to participate in Malaysian CubPrix. I am very greatful that AHM Motor Sports gave me a chance to be part of the team and made me an overall champion in the CP130 expert category.” said Ahmad Fazrul Sham. With just 8 out of 10 round in CubPrix the rider had been crowned as overall championship for the 2015 cubprix season and it is also the 1st expert category overall championship for the team.

AHM Motor Sports Restructuring – 2022

Kenny Chua established a strong foundation for the team, which he passed down to his son, William Chua. As the second-generation team manager since 2014, William had a vision for the team to add more value to its partners. To achieve this goal, he initiated a test phase of a sports marketing company, creating partner-related content. The response from partners who collaborated with the team was positive, making it a successful year.

AHM Motor Sports Rebranding – 2023

Entering its 34th season in CubPrix, the team has established itself as a pioneer in the sport's history. William, always seeking to improve the team's brand image, increase recognition, enhance marketing opportunities, align better with company values, and foster innovation, introduced new roles into the team. The addition of a Brand Strategies position and a Business Development partner has brought significant changes and allowed for the rebranding of the team, transforming it into a youthful and enthusiastic player in the Malaysian motorsports industry.

2022 Promote Female Rider Awareness through GenBlu Carnival

AHM Group, a leading Malaysian motorsports team, is taking a bold step towards promoting gender equality in the sport by organizing an all female convoy to Gen Blu carnival events to promote female motorcyclists. The AHM Group has been at the forefront of promoting inclusivity in motorsports and has recently made a significant effort to encourage female riders to take up the sport.

The event was held in Lumut, where the AHM Group organize an all female convoy to enjoy the Gen Blu carnival that included various activities to tied to motorcycle theme. The turnout was impressive, with many young girls and women showing up to watch and participate in the convoy. The AHM Group also invited Dato' Dr.Jim Khor - Group Managing Director of Hong Leong Yamaha Motor to meet and greet with the female riders to inspire and motivating the participants to pursue their passion and freedom in riding Yamaha motorcycle

The success of the convoy with the AHM Group becoming a prominent advocate for female motorcycle riders. Through these events, they provided a platform for women to have sense of safety and belonging when joining convey organized by the group.

The carnival events not only promoted female representation in the event but also served as a way for the AHM Group to connect with local communities and promote their brand. It was a win-win situation, where everyone involved benefited.
